Play, Learn & Storytime – Delta, Portland and Newboro
Families with children age birth to six are welcome to drop by the Delta Branch, 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, the Portland Branch on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and the Newboro Branch, on the 4th Thursday of the month for open, free play, literacy activities, as well as a loosey-goosey circle and storytime from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
EarlyON and the Library present games, stories and crafts for parents, caregivers and children ages 0-6 on Friday mornings from 9:30-11:30am at the Elgin Branch. This drop-in program follows the same schedule as the school calendar as well as bus cancellations.

After school Kids Club – Elgin
Kids grades 2 to 6 are welcome to hang out, make art, build with LEGO, create something new and enjoy some snacks at the Main Branch in Elgin.
Club meets most Mondays from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. but follows the school calendar with holidays and bus cancellations.

When summertime hits, you can sign up for the TD Summer Reading Club at any Rideau Lakes Public Library branch! Pick up your free stickers, activity booklet, fortune teller and great books with summer adventures waiting for you…
A reading tune-up in the summer for kids
- Would you like your child to grow a love of reading?
- Would you like some help to keep their reading levels up over the summer?
- Would they feel more confident going back to school in September with some extra reading skills?
An early literacy specialist and trained volunteers will work with small groups concentrating on reading fundamentals and promoting the joy of reading. Sessions are free.

Read to Every Kid Every Day, now celebrating year 10, is a county wide literacy initiative that promotes the importance of daily reading to children. Each year, children and parents are invited to read 10 picture books that have been selected by a team of librarians and literacy specialists and then vote for their favourite.
This year’s nominated picture books were announced October 1 2018. Check them out at your Branch, read, share and vote!
